Step Away from The Screen!

Over the past few months, I have leaped wholeheartedly into the process of creating. Sometimes a warm cup of coffee and a handy notebook create just the right atmosphere for new ideas to take shape.

While sitting down to brainstorm, I realized what I actually needed to do was CALM THE STORM. Put the coffee down. Step away from the notebook.

Some of you may also be what Marie Forleo calls “multipassionate.” This is what led me to begin my entrepreneurship journey in the first place. I was spending so much of my time concentrating on my outside of work passions and even making money doing so that I became resentful of any work that kept me from my side hustles.

The day job was work that fed other people’s passions, not mine. Over the years, I thought that it was enough that I had great flexibility and opportunity there, and I stayed. When I found out that my yoga studio was hosting a yoga teacher training (the first one available in the small city I live in), I was immediately interested. I wasn’t going to teach, I just wanted to learn more about what has been the most consistent part of my life since my mid-20s: yoga.

And two months into my training, the whole world went into lockdown, and my whole life and work were suddenly made up of ever-changing pixels across various screens. You know. You were there.

I can tell you all about the shift later (click here to sign up for the upcoming blog series about that time). But lets just say yada yada yada… A few weeks ago, I looked down at that notebook filled with the latest downloads of inspiration from my overactive multipassionate idea generator, and I said, STOP!

Once I convinced the couple next to me at the coffee shop that it wasn’t about them, I took a big breath and gave myself the same advice I sometimes give in my yoga classes: You have everything you need right now. Allow yourself grace and a gentle focus on a single thing, and do THAT. And when that is done, shift that same soft focus to the next thing. And so on.

The irony of this is that shifting my focus to doing the next best thing has brought SO MANY THINGS into existence.

  • A New Website (that includes places to offer free and paid online classes)
  • A New Yoga for Beginners Course (over 8 HOURS of video! Plus handouts!)
  • New Interest in My April Retreat in Texas
  • New clients for private classes, both in-person and online
  • Opportunities to teach and offer retreats at all-inclusive oceanside resorts

I believe that focusing on these projects will allow me to create classes and content that will impact people on a deeper level, aligning with my mission to guide them to their most Peaceful & Powerful selves.

What do you think?

I’d like you to consider this your personal invitation to dive deep with me as I find ways to unlock your Peaceful & Powerful Potential. Something beautiful is awaiting you on the other side. P.S. This has been fabulously exciting. But that doesn’t mean there haven’t been difficult lessons. Like, wow, getting my business out of the red is tough!
