Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could.

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

I would be having a bit of cabin fever right now if I weren't keeping myself so busy here in the home office. Before the ice and snow cut off my desire to take my car for a (literal) spin, I subbed a few yoga and stretch classes at my local Y. It had been a while since I had had that chance, and it was nice to get that class in before I leave the area in the coming weeks.

Since then, I've kept myself busy by helping people who are using their time stuck at home in the cold to plan their summer adventures somewhere warm.

Looking for beaches in the USA? Take a look.

If I'm not careful, I can keep grinding away at all the tasks that make up the workday into a worknight —and then continue analyzing the day's work at bedtime. I know that's the same for many people, not just those who work from home. It happens in different parts of my life, too.

As a writer, I have edited an article or essay so many times that I end up deleting the whole thing or going back to the first or second draft (after 20).

If I start a workout program, I may overdo it-- "making up for lost time" ends up "making it my last workout" until I can bend my knees again...

So, this Emerson quote says it all. When you come to the end of a day, be DONE. Even if your mind keeps reminding you of all the other ways it could have been done, or will be done in the future, let those thoughts be. Just "let them."

Besides this email that I promised myself I would send out each Tuesday, I am DONE writing for the day. But I know I will be back to write again! I just found out that a short piece I wrote will be in a Chicken Soup for the Soul book this spring! (My last Chicken Soup contribution was in 2024). I'll keep you updated.

In the meantime, I'm already thinking of places for my yoga peeps to visit me in Florida. How about we get together and hang out somewhere like this? Reply to this email to get on the list. :)
