travel
acceptance

Hello Friends!

So here's what happened.

The trip was booked.

The bags were packed.

My yoga classes were cancelled.

My boarding pass was in my "wallet."

My hair was ready:

My 4:18 a.m. alarm tells me it's time to take a quick shower and drive to the airport since my flight was boarding at 5:40 a.m. (I love living in a small town.)

My sleep-covered eyes notice that I have a notice-- from the airline. "Your flight has been cancelled, but you've been rebooked. Please click to accept new flights."

I give it a quick glance. Oh, so instead of one stop, I now have two. And instead of arriving at 1 p.m., I'll arrive at 7 p.m. It's not ideal, but it will do. "Accept."

I start to take a screenshot to send to my friend, who is meeting me at our destination, so she knows I will be there later. Why does it say 25 hours until boarding?

Oh, they're rescheduling me for tomorrow.

After a quick search of my travel agent news and the weather, I realized this was going to be a bad travel day, which meant it would take time to clean up.

Yada.Yada.Yada.

Our trip was completely cancelled.

At least I still have the braids.

How do you deal with disappointment?

You have a choice when things don't go as planned. You can stay there and stew in it all. Or you can stay there for a while. Feel the feelings. Process your thoughts. Start the travel insurance process (ha ha, but not really). And then. Let. It. Go.

Staying in the moment takes constant practice, which is fine because there's another moment coming up right after this one. And don't forget those silver linings. For me, it was the braids. That's not something I would have done if I wasn't planning a beach getaway. And now I know where I'm going before my trip to Cancun! **

Another disappointment. The classes at Great Scott Studio were not enough to keep the business afloat, so they are reworking some things. I have loved teaching in that space, and hopefully, I will again. But for now, my Tuesday night and Saturdays there are cancelled. See below for my new Tuesday offering (sliver linings, remember?)
